New Trier Township Announces Spring 2017 Children's Book Drive
New Trier Township is one of a growing number of book collection drive partners, working with community members, groups, and businesses to collect new and gently used books for thousands of at-risk children in Illinois, whose families are living at or below poverty level. The books we collect are picked-up, sorted and distributed by Bernie's Book Bank, a Lake Bluff based non-profit organization dedicated to reading readiness for all children.
Thanks to the generosity of many in our North Shore communities, the New Trier Township Summer 2016 collection drive netted 3,350 books in our summer 2016 launch venture.
We are proud to announce that the Spring 2017 Books for ALL Children collection drive will take place at the Township office (739 Elm Street) from March 24th-April 21st. Donors can drop off new and gently used children's books from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
When children begin their school career, it is critical they have fundamental reading skills, imagination and a desire to learn. By donating unwanted books you can make a significant difference in a child's life. Who knows, you may be helping a future leader with your gift.
