New Trier Township Seeking 2010 Volunteerism and Community Service Award Nominations

 

Winnetka, January 23, 2010 – Nominations are being accepted for the 2010George E. Noyes Community Spirit Award and the 2010 Superior Service Award to Persons with Disabilities. "These awards recognize the significant contributions of individuals or an organization to enhancing the quality of life the Township and its residents," noted Patricia B. Cantor, Supervisor, New Trier Township. Specifically, 

George E. Noyes Community Spirit Award
The George E. Noyes Community Spirit Award recognizes outstanding Township volunteers who are making a powerful difference in their communities in ways that support New Trier Township’s mission and strategic direction, and who inspires others to volunteer. The award was established in 2006 in memory of George E. Noyes who served as Township Collector from 2002 until 2006. A tireless worker, Noyes displayed a sustained commitment to civic participation during his lifetime. The award is designed to honor those who demonstrate his spirit of service, citizenship and responsibility.

Superior Service Award to Persons with Disabilities
This award recognizes an individual or an organization (corporation, non-profit organization, governmental body or place of worship) for efforts that go above and beyond their normal job duties and responsibilities in any or all of the following areas:

  • Providing contributions and advocacy efforts of a significant nature on behalf of persons with disabilities living in New Trier Township

  • Helping to make a positive and significant difference in the lives of persons with disabilities living in New Trier Township

  • Making substantial efforts at inclusion or integration of persons with disabilities into the life of the Community and/or their respective organization

  • Showing leadership in helping implement the Americans with Disabilities Act in New Trier Township.

The awards will be presented at the Annual Town meeting to be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Takiff Center located at 999 Green Bay Road in Glencoe.
