New Trier Township Seeking Nominations for Exceptional Community Service Award Recognition

January 17, 2011 - New Trier Township Government has issued its annual call for award nominations for the George E. Noyes Community Spirit Award and the Superior Service Award to Persons with Disabilities. Both awards recognize exceptional individuals who through community service demonstrate a sense of caring and responsibility that enhance the quality of life within New Trier Township.

"The spirit of volunteering within New Trier Township is generous and there are infinite ways for individuals to pay it forward," noted Patricia B. Cantor, Township Supervisor. "We are seeking nominations of individuals who exemplify the very best in volunteering and through their initiative significantly contribute to the well-being of our residents." 
Since 2006 the George E. Noyes Community Spirit Award has recognized individuals within the Township who have displayed a continuous commitment to civic participation. Among the past recipients are Sandra Berger of Winnetka, Irvinia Warren of Winnetka, and Karen Donnan of Wilmette. Each of these winners embodies a sense of caring and responsibility for others that address community issues.
The Superior Service to Persons with Disabilities Award, established in 2001, recognizes contributions and advocacy efforts of a significant nature on behalf of persons with disabilities living in New Trier Township. Among the past recipients are Sean Clemenz and Julie Smith, Special Education Faculty at New Trier High School, Jane Gallery of Winnetka and Ellen McManus of Wilmette. Through their leadership they have made a positive impact on the quality of life for Township residents with a disability.
All members of the public are invited to make nominations. Award criteria and forms may be downloaded.   Information is also available at the Township Office located at 739 Elm Street in Winnetka. Nominations will be accepted through March 4, 2011.
The awards will be presented at the Annual Town Meeting on April 12, 2011 at the North Shore Senior Center, located at 161 Northfield Road in Northfield at 6:30 p.m.
