An important service for residents ![]() The Pantry is an important service for residents whose incomes do not cover all their needs. Its shelves offer a variety of canned and packaged food, useful paper goods, and toiletry items for all ages. A freezer is stocked with vegetables, meat, poultry, and nutritious frozen dinners. The Food Pantry is open to qualified residents of New Trier Township, which includes the villages of Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, and Glencoe, plus portions of Glenview and Northfield. In order to qualify for assistance, a social worker meets with the individual making the request and determines if they are eligible for assistance. At that time, the social worker can also inform the individual of other assistance programs. If you are a New Trier Township resident in need, or if you know of a resident in need, please call the Social Services Administrator at 847-446-8201 for a confidential interview. The office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. A voice mail message can be left at any time. To learn more about our Food Pantry, view our Fact Sheet. |
An opportunity for community service The Township relies on donations from individuals, businesses, houses of worship, and community groups to keep the shelves well stocked. No donation is too small and all are appreciated. Current priority items include: Frozen foods (vegetables, meat, poultry, nutritious packaged prepared meals, concentrated juice) Canned fruit (fruit cocktail, peaches, pears, pineapples, mandarin oranges, apple sauce) 100% fruit and vegetable juice (shelf stable, cans or plastic bottles only) Aluminum foil and plastic wrap Soap (laundry, dish) Our Food Pantry Wish List provides a full list of needed items and donation guidelines. Please check product expiration dates. If you would like to make a donation to The Pantry, please call the Township Social Services Administrator at 847-446-8201. Donations may be dropped off any weekday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Township office, 739 Elm Street, Winnetka. ![]() In March 2009, members of Boy Scout Troop 9 in Wilmette joined hundreds of Scouts in the Potawatomi District of the Northeast Illinois Council for the annual "Scouting for Food" drive. Food drives are a fun, hands-on way to help our neighbors in need. Food Drive Kit offers helpful tips and tools. |
