Public Hearings Set for Township Social Service Funding

PenCalendar
Nine public hearings are scheduled to review requests for Township funding of programs that provide support services to youth, seniors, individuals and families in crisis and persons with disabilities.

New Trier Township Government will be hosting public hearings on applications received from social service agencies for funding of programs that serve Township residents. The hearings begin on November 2 and continue throughout the month. A full schedule of the nine public hearings, which includes requests from 38 agencies for 50 programs, can be found at http://www.newtriertownship.com/resources/funding_hearings.aspx.

Due to the large number of proposals received by the Township, hearings are limited to 30 minutes per agency. The purpose of these hearings is to clarify any information contained in the funding proposal, not to provide a complete presentation of the agency’s proposal.  All hearings are open to the public.

Each year New Trier Township allocates funds to social service agencies that serve New Trier Township residents. This program provides financial support for social service programs that positively impact the residents of New Trier Township and enhance the quality of life. In Fiscal Year 2012, New Trier Township awarded $1.2 million to fund 47 different programs that range from youth drop-in centers and senior services to the well-being of individuals and families.

To learn more about the funding process, contact Community Services Administrator, Brian Leverenz, at 847-446-8203 or by email at bleverenz@newtriertownship.com
