The New Trier Township Child Care Financial Assistance Program provides assistance with payment for child care for income eligible parents/guardians.

This program is designed to help offset the cost for services provided by licensed day care, before and after school care, and/or summer day camp programs.

 

What is the Child Care Financial Assistance Program?

The Child Care Financial Assistance program provides assistance with payment for child care for income eligible parents/guardians. The purpose of the program is to enable working families to obtain quality, affordable child care while they are at work, school or job training. There are three programs:

  • Day Care Financial Assistance
  • Before & After School Care Financial Assistance
  • Summer Day Camp Financial Assistance

Applications for the Day Care and Before & After School Care will be reviewed and given consideration based on available funding.

Applications for the Summer Day Camp program are posted in January with a deadline in March. Sign-up to receive an email when the 2012 application is posted. Click here to learn more about the Summer Day Camp Financial Assistance Program.

Am I eligible for assistance?

To be eligible for assistance, you must:

·       Have lawful custody of a child under age 13 who receives care in a licensed facility;
·       Be a resident of New Trier Township
·       Be working full or part-time; attending school; and/or are in job training,
·       Meet income guidelines.

  • Stop by the Township Office at 739 Elm Street in Winnetka. Get directions to our office.

How do I apply for the Summer Day Camp Program?

Sign-up to receive an email when the 2012 application is posted.

How long will it take to review my application?

It may take 30-45 days to process your application. Avoid possible delays by submitting all the required documentation with your application.


What type of assistance can I expect to receive?

All applicants are expected to pay a portion of the expense. Financial assistance amounts vary and are based on the family’s personal situation, income, and cost of care provided. 


Who qualifies as a child care provider?

The child care program selected must be one of the following:
  • State licensed day care provider
  • Accredited Kindergarten or preschool program
  • Affiliated with either a school or park district
 

How is the child care provider paid?

Child care providers are paid directly from New Trier Township. Parents/guardians are responsible for paying the balance. 
 

How will I know if my application has been accepted or rejected?

All applicants are notified in writing of the status of their request.
 

Who administers this program?

The Financial assistance Review committee is comprised of social service professionals. All information submitted to the committee remains highly confidential.
