Programs To Assist Residents In Need
|
General and Emergency Assistance
General Assistance is a cooperative effort between the Township and residents who have limited resources or none. General Assistance provides for the basic needs of residents who are unemployed or disabled and who have no other forms of income or assets. New Trier Township administers General Assistance on a needs allowance basis, meaning that the need must exist before funds are provided. General Assistance may also cover medical benefits as defined by Township guidelines. To be eligible for assistance you must be a Township resident 18 years of age or older who is without income and ineligible for any other forms of assistance

Child Care
New Trier Township understands that one of the most difficult hurdles to obtain employment and remain employed is the high cost of child care. In response to this challenge, the Township offers the Child Care Financial Assistance Program.
The New Trier Township Child Care Financial Assistance Program provides assistance with payment for child care for income eligible parents/guardians. This program is designed to help offset the cost for services provided by licensed day care, before and after school care, and/or summer day camp programs. Any family in need is encouraged to apply. To be eligible for assistance, you must:
• Have lawful custody of a child under age 13 who receives care in a licensed facility.
• Be a resident of New Trier Township.
• Work full or part-time; attend school; and/or are in job training.
• Meet income guidelines.

Community Support Grants Program
Most individuals with a disability live at home and are cared for by their families. Some of these individuals will require family support their entire lives. Their families make not only personal, but also great financial sacrifices to make this possible. This financial assistance reimbursement program provides a cash grant up to $1,500 per person/per fiscal year and covers a wide range of user-centered services. The program is open to all Township residents with an legible disability, with no restrictions as to age or income. Past recipients are eligible and encouraged to reapply.Recipients are selected through an annual lotter process.
