Township Asks For Nominations of Outstanding Volunteers for Service Recognition

Awards

Do you know someone who has improved the quality of life for residents in New Trier Township through their volunteerism? New Trier Township would like to honor them. The Township is accepting nominations for two awards – the George E. Noyes Community Spirit Award and the Superior Service Award to Persons with Disabilities -that will be presented at the annual town meeting on April 10, 2012 at the North Shore Senior Center. "These awards are a long time tradition of the Township to recognize individuals for their outstanding leadership and service to improving the lives of Township residents," said Patricia B. Cantor, Supervisor.

The George E. Noyes Community Spirit Award recognizes outstanding township volunteers who are making a powerful difference in their communities in ways that support New Trier Township’s mission and strategic direction, and who inspires others to volunteer. It was presented in 2011 to Mimi Dray of Wilmette for her extraordinary volunteer service to her community and the Township's schools.

Nominations also are requested for the Superior Service Award to Persons with Disabilities which was presented to Naomi Frisch of Wilmette in recognition of her involvement with Township youth. The award recognizes an individual or an organization (corporation, non-profit organization, governmental body or place of worship) for efforts that go above and beyond their normal job duties and responsibilities to benefit the disability community.

Cantor said the nomination process is simple. Fill in the name, address, and telephone number of both your nominee and yourself as the nominator. Write a brief, passionate, compelling story about the nominee. Tell something that distinguishes them as an individual. Then highlight how the nominee's actions benefit the lives of others and the local community.

The description and qualifications for each Award, as well as the list of all previous award recipients, are posted on the Township website.  The deadline for submitting an Award Nomination is March 2, 2012. Further information can be obtained by calling Brian Leverenz, Community Services Administrator at 847-446-8203 or email at bleverenz@newtriertownship.com
