Township Issues Call for Funding Applications

Applications for social service agency grants are currently being accepted for New Trier Township’s 2016-17 fiscal year, which begins March 1, 2016. To be eligible for funding, an agency must be a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, provide direct services to Township residents, have at least one full time staff person or the equivalent, and be fully accountable to Township funding committees. To apply for funding, an Application for Funding and Budget Worksheet should be filled out and submitted to the Township by Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Forms are available at the Township Office, 739 Elm Street, Winnetka and on the Township website at
All proposals will be reviewed by committees made up of resident volunteers, after which a series of public hearings will be conducted during October and November. The Advisory Committees will make their final allocation recommendations to the New Trier Township Board of Trustees in December.
During the current fiscal year 2015-16, the Township awarded $1,415,745 in grants to 35 different social service agencies in support of 46 programs that include but are not limited to youth drop-in centers, senior services, agencies that attend to the well being of individuals and families, and crisis intervention and prevention services. The Township also provides financial support to residential, vocational and respite programs, as well as advocacy and inclusion programs for persons with disabilities.
