Township Issues Call For Funding Proposals for Social Service Programs

FundingApps

New Trier Township has issued its annual call for funding proposals for social service programs that serve Township residents. To be eligible for funding an agency must be a 501(c)3 organization, provide direct services to Township residents, have a firm sense of mission, and have a well-organized management team.

"The Township has a long history of providing grants to social service agencies to enhance the communities’ capacity to assist those in need," noted Patricia B. Cantor, New Trier Township Supervisor. "Grants fund programs that aid residents in crisis, strengthens children, youth and families, support independence and inclusion, and provide education, prevention and treatment services and programs that sustain physical and mental well being," she added. In Fiscal 2013, New Trier Township funded 48 different programs offered by 36 social service agencies. A list of Township funded agencies and areas of services can be found online on the Service Agencies page in the Resource section at www.newtriertownship.com

To apply for funding, an Application for Funding and Budget Worksheet should be completed and submitted by Monday, September 10, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. The forms and instructions are available on the Agency Program Funding page in the Resource section at www.newtriertownship.com.

Applications are reviewed through a formal funding process coordinated between the Board of Trustees and the Township’s Community Services Administrator, who has a strong background in program evaluation, grants management and outcomes. Each proposal is studied by members of the Township’s volunteer advisory committee. Representatives from the service agency also participate in public hearings in November and December.  Decision meetings are held in December, then committee members make recommendations for funding to the Board in January. The Board’s decisions are incorporated in a tentative budget, which is followed with a public hearing in May when the budget is approved.

Further information on eligibility and the funding process can be obtained by contacting, Brian Leverenz, Community Services Administrator at 847-446-8203 or Email.
