Township Offers Summer Camp Financial Aid

MP900227615
Deadline to apply: March 30, 2012

Enrollment in summer camp programs is well underway and for some parents who are working, in search of employment or in job training, camp is a necessity, and not a choice, for their children. To assist income eligible families, New Trier Township government provides a partial tuition assistance program that helps offset the cost of child care which skyrockets in summer months when students are not in school.

"We have seen a noticeable increase in the number of residents in search of programs and services to support their efforts toward self-sufficiency," said Supervisor Patricia B. Cantor. "The Township’s Summer Camp Financial Assistance program enables them to enroll their child in a safe, enriching program and provides them with peace of mind while they are at work."

The program aims to assist families by providing partial tuition assistance. To qualify, an applicant must:
  • Have lawful custody of a child under age 13 who receives care in a licensed facility
  • Be a resident of New Trier Township
  • Be working full or part-time; attending school; and/or are in job training during the hours of the summer day camp program.
  • Meet income guidelines. For example, a family of four must have income equal or less than $52,000.
For an application and additional information on the Summer Camp Financial Assistance program, visit www.newtriertownship.com/services/summer_camp.aspx or call the Social Services Administrator at 847-446-8201. Applications are due March 30, 2012.

The Township also offers a financial assistance program for Day Care and Before and After School Care. Applications for 2012-2013 funding will be accepted beginning in July 2012.
