Township to Host Summer Camp Scholarship Application Processing Day

New Trier Township will be holding an Application Processing Day for eligible residents to apply for scholarships for children’s summer camp. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 in the Board Room at the Township Office, 739 Elm Street, Winnetka. Staff will be on hand to assist residents with applications.
To be eligible for assistance, a resident must have lawful custody of a child under the age of 13 who receives care in a licensed facility. Both child and parent (or legal guardian) must reside within the boundaries of New Trier Township. Both custodial parents or the child’s legal guardian must be working (full or part-time), attending school, or participating in a job training program during the hours of the child care program. Finally, eligibility is based upon meeting specified income guidelines. Extraordinary medical expenses or circumstances will be taken into account.
Documentation that is required to complete the application process includes 2014 or 2013 income tax return, two paycheck stubs for each parent within the last 30 days, proof of residency (current lease, letter signed by property owner or utility bill), verification of child’s enrollment in program and total current program cost from provider.
Financial assistance for summer camp is available through the Township’s Child Care Assistance Program for families with two working parents who are income eligible. Applications are available at the Township Office and on the Township website at The deadline for application submission is Thursday, April 30, 2015.
Note that the child(ren) must be enrolled in the summer camp program of choice prior to the submission of an application for a camp scholarship. If proof of enrollment is not supplied, the applicant will be asked to complete camp enrollment and secure documentation before a scholarship application can be considered.
Financial assistance is also available for day care and for before and after school care. The day care application is currently available. Before and after school care applications will be made available in March. The deadline for day care is July 15, and the deadline for before and after school care is July 31. Please note that residents needing assistance meeting day care costs can apply at any time throughout the year while funds last.
